Pictures of Memories

I often wonder, if we only knew then what some random photo would mean to us now, decades later?  Some of the most random snapshots from the distant past now hold some of our most cherished moments and memories.
People, places and things long forgotten are instantly brought back to us. What was a long ago memory clouded by the years is re-focused into clarity.
A first fishing trip, a first hunt. Captured in time for all time. What the day was like, who was there. What fish/animal was the day’s adventure about?
One of the things I’m so grateful of now for the generations after mine is the ability to take pictures, lots of pictures. We only had film cameras then and not everyone even had them, much less have them with us when needed. Granted we took the time to take pictures of kids and family but seldom were hunting and fishing photos a priority.
A single black & white print is now multiple frames in vivid color. Cellphone cameras are with us every minute, both for still shots & video. I have one photo album of pictures from when I was young, while now folks have hundreds, if not thousands of images to look back on.
Technology has made many advancements in my lifetime, and the ability to chronologically hold on to the past through this medium is so wonderful. Cherish, appreciate and enjoy the times afield and on the waters, and take lots of pictures! ~ Wade Pennell
